Carmen Laforet (1921-2004) es una novelista española de fama internacional. Escribió Nada, una de las novelas europeas más importantes del siglo XX. Laforet era muy sensible; tenía una gran capacidad de introspección y autoanálisis y también de risa y euforia. Su relación con la autoría, ese puente entre ella y el mundo, era, sin embargo, muy tensa. Las claves para entender esta tensión son el reto de integrar la vida familiar y la vida intelectual, así como la carga de las tareas domésticas junto con la consiguiente falta de tiempo y espacio para desarrollar sanamente una voz autoral.
En el Teatro Cervantes ha dirigido La tortuga de Darwin, de Juan Mayorga, La golondrina, de Guillem Clua, El pequeño poni, de Paco Bezerra, ¡Ay, Carmela!, de José Sanchis Sinisterra, y La casa de los espíritus, de Caridad Svich, tras la novela de Isabel Allende; así como diversas lecturas dramatizadas y producciones rápidas. Otros créditos como directora incluyen Knives in Hens de David Harrower en el KC Theatre y también ha trabajado como dramaturga, directora de movimiento, asistente de dirección en ópera y coordinadora artística para la televisión.
