An important part of the application process for a master’s degree at an international university is the master’s motivation letter (or cover letter) you should write. But how do you write the best cover letter, and why is it so important anyway?

A well-written letter can be a decisive factor in guaranteeing you a place in the master’s program of your choice. It is probably the most personalized document in your application. Therefore, writing an original cover letter for your Master’s degree is a task not to be taken lightly.

Simply summarize the main points you made and mention your main goal of the letter: to be accepted into the program. Conclude by reaffirming your interest and show appreciation for the opportunity to prove yourself in the letter (in some cases, you may request a personal interview). Perhaps also mention again why you would be a valuable student for the program. As usual, keep it to the point.

Family obligations present another challenge for Hispanic students. A 2014 National Journal survey found that two-thirds of Hispanic women and men who sought full-time work or joined the military after completing high school expressed doing so to financially help their loved ones. In comparison, only 39% of white women and men who did not attend college said the same.

However, many schools classify undocumented students as «aliens,» which removes their ability to be eligible for federal financial aid and reduced in-state tuition rates.

Students in the U.S. must be classified as permanent residents before they can receive financial aid. Most immigrants obtain permanent residency by applying for a Green Card, but current laws stipulate that undocumented citizens cannot do that; instead, they must leave the U.S. and apply for permanent residency from the consulate of their home country.

The letter of recommendation is not very complicated to write. It should start with a first paragraph in which your professor introduces himself, says what his work at the university is and how he knows you, how long he has taught you and what projects you have worked on with him.

Hi Chus…it depends on the type of LOR (letter of recommendation). There are many that are not exactly letters, but questions such as (What is the applicant’s greatest strength, what could the applicant improve, what is the applicant’s legacy to your organization) and there are others that are more like a normal letter of recommendation.

I was thinking about getting help from the English academy since they are used to writing letters of recommendation and there are several of them so it won’t seem like the same person is writing it.

Another question is, do I have to write a different letter of recommendation for each university? It is that each one asks for a series of requirements and it seems that the same one does not work. If I already have a hard time getting them to write one, how can I tell them that they have to write 5-6 different ones?

The letter of appeal is a missive through which the sender expresses a disagreement about a resolution or sentence that affects him/her directly. It is important to mention that before writing this type of letter, it is necessary that the interested party is calm, since it is desired to avoid aggressive language that could worsen the situation for him/her.

Due to my interest in pursuing a postgraduate study, particularly of the master’s degree in law offered by the Universidad Metropolitana del Norte, I gave myself the task of applying for the call for national scholarships January 2016, however, my application was rejected.

I am contacting you to appeal this decision, since I meet the required criteria to receive it. First of all, CONACYT requests a minimum average of 80 to be eligible for a scholarship. My final undergraduate GPA was 95, well above the minimum required.

On the other hand, in order to grant these scholarships, the institution requires that the university of interest be part of the national excellence program, to which Universidad Metropolitana, the educational institution I am interested in, belongs. On the other hand, I must mention that, without the support of the scholarship, it will be impossible for me to continue with my studies, since the university requires me to dedicate full time to the graduate program. Enclosed you will find my kárdex, as well as several letters of recommendation from former professors and bosses.
