El profesor John L. Drever presentará el concepto evolutivo de diversidad auditiva, que pretende abrir la definición de la audición, apartándose de la formulación simétrica mecanicista idealizada predominante del sentido humano de la audición, para abrazar y celebrar la realidad de la audición desde la experiencia vivida en toda su diversidad. La charla se remontará a uno de los primeros estudios sobre el ruido urbano, London Street Noises, de 1928, de una época anterior al empleo del decibelio y a la preocupación por la pérdida de audición debida a la exposición al sonido. Trasladándose a la actualidad, Drever expondrá su propia investigación sobre el ruido de los secadores de manos, y su respuesta a través de la práctica del arte sonoro en un intento de concebir una obra inclusiva y auditivamente diversa.
John Levack Drever trabaja en la intersección de las disciplinas que se ocupan del sonido, como la acústica, la audiología, los estudios medioambientales y el arte sonoro.
