The tournament bracket is comprised of champions from each Division I conference, who receive automatic bids. The remaining slots are at-large bids, with teams chosen by an NCAA selection committee. The selection process and tournament seedings are based on several factors, including team rankings, win-loss records and NET data.
The tournament is divided into four regional tournaments, with each regional having teams seeded 1-16, and the committee apparently makes each region as comparable as possible to the others. [ citation needed ] The top-ranked team from each region plays the #16 team, the #2 team plays the #15 team, etc. (meaning that when the two seeds total 17, that team will be assigned to play another).
Prior to 1996, seeding was done on a regional basis. The top teams (eight in the 32-, 40- and 48-team formats, and 16 in the 64-team format) qualified and seeded at the national level. Then, the remaining teams were ranked based on their geographic region. Teams moved outside their geographic region only if necessary to balance the bracket, or if the proximity of an opponent outside their region was comparable and would result in more competitive play. In 1993, all but the top four teams were explicitly unseeded. Regional seeding resumed in 1994. In 1996, seeds were assigned nationally using an «S-Curve» [ clarification needed ] format similar to the process used to select the field for the men’s tournament.

The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas is the collegiate sports team representing Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) located in Kingsville, Texas in NCAA Division II as a member of the 13-section Lone Star Conference.
Once incorrectly considered a simple wild pig, the wild boar is now considered a ferocious creature that is more like a coyote than a pig. When provoked, the wild boar attacks aggressively and constantly, as demonstrated by the university’s first president, Dr. Robert Cousins, when he made the discovery in 1929. After being attacked by one of the three wild boars the university had, Dr. Cousins began the process of making the mascot a symbol that would characterize the university’s students.[1][2] The baseball section initiated activities to promote the boar as a symbol for the university.
The baseball section began activities in 1926. It became a popular team among students, faculty and administration. Unfortunately, the great distance between the universities and the few teams with a baseball section made maintaining the team quite costly. The university later discontinued the program in 1930.
