University of Barcelona
Like the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Bilbao (later called the University of the Basque Country), the Autonomous University of Madrid was born thanks to the Decree-Law 5/1968 approved by the Council of Ministers.[3] This reform was carried out by the then Minister of Education and Science, José Luis Villar Palasí, to allow a university restructuring. Its official denomination as «Universidad Autónoma de Madrid» appears in an Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of August 13, 1968.[4] Eight faculty libraries and several centers were opened in the university.
Eight faculty libraries and various documentation centers serve the entire university community, providing those information resources necessary for the development of research, teaching and study:
To these service points are added other specialized centers: Archives, Rafael Más Map Library, Natural Spaces Documentation Center, Statistical Documentation Center and European Documentation Center.

The UNED is characterized by offering a blended distance education modality, based on new technologies and traditional systems through the following means: virtual courses on the Internet (forums, videoconferences, webconferences, virtual blackboard, laboratories, etc.), reference books in their field, teachers’ notes, in combination with face-to-face or virtual tutoring in cities where there are associated centers through the AVIP system. The UNED does not require a cut-off mark, nor does it impose quotas or maximum number of students in each degree. UNED studies are based on the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).
The UNED Headquarters, located in the city of Madrid, is currently composed of nine faculties and two university schools, with their corresponding sections and departments, like the rest of the universities in the country, and the professors responsible for teaching and research in the different subjects belong to it. The UNED, in addition to the permanent professors (professors and associate professors), has in its staff contracted professors (associates, assistants, collaborating doctoral assistants and contracted doctors).

It should not be forgotten that a general objective of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos is to promote the international mobility of both students and professors/researchers involved in their degrees.
Internships are activities carried out by students in companies, institutions and organizations, that is, in centers outside the university premises, with the aim of enriching and complementing their university education, while providing them with a deeper knowledge of the skills they will need once they have graduated.
Orientation for prospective students. The University offers various orientation programs for prospective students: we make visits to high schools and secondary schools, we organize guided tours of the campuses, we have a presence in Aula and, at the beginning of each academic year, we hold welcome days to orient new students.
Scholarships and grants. The Universidad Rey Juan Carlos manages the main annual scholarships and grants, both its own and those of other official bodies: Ministries, Community of Madrid, International Organizations and other entities. It also publishes and disseminates scholarships and grants of interest to its students and alumni. Throughout the academic year, students receive information about them through the different communication channels established.
