The ENARM is an annual evaluation directed and regulated by the Inter-institutional Commission for the Formation of Human Resources for Health (CIFRHS) for students who wish to obtain a place within the various specialty positions in Mexico.
For Guillermo Domínguez, dean of the EMCS Mexico City Campus, «this evaluation reflects that the graduates leave with sufficient preparation to be able to aspire to a postgraduate degree. The education between campuses is standardized, with training programs for professors, which is reflected in the good results of this evaluation.
Manuel Pérez, dean of the Monterrey Region of the EMCS, said: «we have maintained a high level of selection for the exam with our students, placing us in the first places in the ENARM, without a doubt their talent can lead them to be successful and achieve great goals».

Desde su fundación, la Facultad de Medicina ha reconocido la importancia del ámbito clínico, que se obtiene principalmente a través del «Dr. José Eleuterio González» Hospital Universitario. Aquí los estudiantes tienen la oportunidad de practicar los procedimientos diagnósticos y terapéuticos que los profesores aplican a sus pacientes.
Actualmente, el programa de la Licenciatura en Medicina se basa principalmente en el aprendizaje por competencias, en tanto que se enfoca en un aprendizaje donde los estudiantes desarrollan habilidades que los preparan para poder responder a las necesidades de salud en el entorno siempre cambiante. Lo anterior va acompañado de un aspecto ético y humanitario, así como de una sólida base en la investigación científica.
El 2 de octubre de 1828, el Gobierno del Estado de Nuevo León, firmó un contrato con el Dr. Pascual Constanza, para el establecimiento de la primera cátedra médico-quirúrgica en Monterrey; este proyecto no prosperó por razones económicas.
El Dr. José Eleuterio González inició su primera cátedra de Farmacia en la droguería del Hospital «Rosario», con un periodo de estudios de cuatro años. La promoción de cuatro alumnos se graduó y tres de ellos se fueron a diferentes ciudades del noreste de México.
