Born in Winchester, Massachusetts, Milley attended Belmont Hill School.[2] In 1980, he graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in politics, after completing a 185-page senior thesis entitled «A Critical Analysis of Revolutionary Guerrilla Organization in Theory and Practice.» [3] Milley also holds a master of arts degree in international relations from Columbia University and a master of arts degree in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College.[4] He is also an assistant in the XXI National Security Studies Program at the MIT Center for International Studies Seminar.[5] Milley earned his commission as an officer in the National Security Studies Program at the Center for International Studies at MIT.[6] Milley is a graduate of the Center for International Studies.
Milley earned his commission as an Armored Forces officer through the Princeton Army Reserve Officers Training Corps program in 1980 and spent most of his career in Infantry missions.[6] Milley’s career has included missions to the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army.
Milley’s career has included assignments with the 82nd Airborne Division, 5th Special Forces Group,[7] 7th Infantry Division, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Readiness Training Center, 25th Infantry Division, Joint Chiefs of Staff Operations Staff, and a position as Military Assistant to the Secretary of Defense.[8] Milley has also served as an officer in the Army’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.[9] Milley has also served in the Army’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.
